The government will announce the country’s total population on Wednesday following the release of data collection under the “Population and Housing Census-2021” project.
The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics will release the preliminary result of data collection which started nationwide from May 15, Bangla Tribune reports.
On this occasion, a program was organized on Wednesday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital.
Minister of Planning, MA Mannan, will chair the event while Speaker of the National Parliament, Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, will be the chief guest.
In addition, Minister of State for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, Minister of State for Ministry of Planning, Dr. Shamsul Alam, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee for Ministry of Planning, Abul Kalam Azad, will participate in the program as special guests, among others.
For the first time in the country, the population census work started digitally on May 15 with 3,65,697 enumerators.
Project director Dildar Hossain said: “Since the data is encrypted, no one can steal or hack this information. During the census, 35 questions were asked such as type of household, number of family members, their age, type of work, marital status, religion, education, use of mobile phones .
