The government of Bangladesh on Wednesday banned overseas travel by all leaders and employees of public organizations at the expense of their institutions.
All orders relating to overseas travel by officers and employees with government funding have been canceled until further notice, a notification from the finance division said.
Government institutions covered by this new ordinance include all ministries, divisions and their subordinate entities, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, public sector enterprises and public enterprises.
However, overseas travel may be undertaken on a limited scale subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
Previously, the ban on their overseas travel was imposed amid the post-Covid economic recovery and the ongoing global crisis.
Earlier in May, the Ministry of Finance issued an order prohibiting all officials of governmental, semi-governmental and autonomous organizations alongside government banks and financial institutions from traveling abroad.
