Food controller in Habiganj did not buy paddy from farmers

The Anti-Corruption Commission today carried out an operation against the Upazila food controller of Nabiganj upazila under Habiganj, for collecting paddy from a syndicate bypassing local farmers.

A three-member team from the ACC’s Coordinated Office in Habiganj carried out the crackdown, according to the deputy director of the ACC’s public relations office, Muhammad Arif Sadeq.

The Commission received allegations that the food controller in Nabiganj collected paddy from a selected person and charged extra for the allocation of concessions under the Open Market Sale (OMS) Scheme.

During the operation, the list of farmers selected by the relevant office for Boro paddy supply in the 2021-22 financial year, receipts of purchase of paddy from farmers, weight standard certificates and inventory, loading/unloading instructions and the Khamar map were recovered. .

Later, the implementation team visited food warehouses and WHO outlets to verify authenticity.

The enforcement team will shortly submit a report in this regard to the ACC high command, for review of the actions taken and filing of complaints, if necessary, for further action.
