China: China plans to use the population of Bangladesh to conduct phase III vaccine trials against Covid-19

New Delhi: China, in a surprising gesture, plans to use the population of Bangladesh as a “guinea pig” to conduct phase III trials of its Covid vaccine.

Well-known Chinese companies Sinopharm and National Biotec are considering the possibility of human trials being conducted on 40,000 people with the help of the Chinese Communist Party, ET has reliably learned.

While some Western pharmaceutical companies have predatory practices, Chinese companies are now attempting to exploit vulnerable populations for their profit.

Last month, it was reported that China may conduct the second phase of the coronavirus vaccine trial in Bangladesh. This was announced by the Director General (DG) of the General Directorate of Health Services (DGHS), Dr Abul Kalam Azad.

“The Chinese government could conduct the second phase of human testing of a possible coronavirus vaccine in Bangladesh,” he said during a virtual conference with members of the Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum on the month. latest.

ET has understood that China is taking advantage of Covid to exploit developing and least developed countries in sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals to commerce.

State-owned Sinopharm has completed construction of a factory in Wuhan for the mass production of a coronavirus vaccine candidate currently in development. Eighteen potential vaccines were in clinical trials around the world, including seven developed by Chinese companies, according to the World Health Organization.
